Dojo

Shoto Tora Karate ry is a traditional Shotokan karate dojo based in Tampere, Finland.

The dojo was founded with the purpose of preserving and studying traditional Karate-do through disciplined long-term practice rooted in the spirit of budo. Training is approached with sincerity, humility, mutual respect, and a commitment to continuous self-development.

Our practice follows the traditions of Shotokan karate originating from the teachings of Gichin Funakoshi and the Okinawan roots of Karate-do. Strong emphasis is placed on kihon, kata, kumite, proper body mechanics, distancing, timing, and the cultivation of both technical skill and character.

The technical direction of the dojo is strongly influenced by the teachings and methodology of Hirokazu Kanazawa and the Shotokan Karate-do International Federation tradition.

Karate training is viewed not merely as physical exercise, but as a lifelong path of study and personal refinement.
